Plan Set Builder
Building a pricing page used to mean creating each plan in the Catalog first, then a group, then a page, then wiring the three together. The Plan Set Builder does it the other way round: you start from the page you're building, describe the tiers on the cards themselves, say where they should appear, and everything is created in one step.
New in v4.109.0. The builder lives inside the page studio. Nothing about existing pages, plans or groups changes until you use it.
Why It Exists
A plan set is a group of subscription plans that belong together — Starter / Growth / Scale, Good / Better / Best, a care-plan ladder. In ClientCove that is three or four Plans in the Catalog, one Group that holds them in order, and a Plans block on a page that shows them. The builder creates all of those from a single form, so a new pricing page takes minutes rather than a tour of three screens.
Starting the Builder
The builder opens from a Plans block in the page studio (the full-screen editor at /p/your-page/?cove=run — see Building Public Pages).
- Add a Plans block from the block list — it carries a small Creates plans chip
- With the block selected, click Create a plan set. It appears on the block itself when the block has no plans yet ("No plans yet"), and in the block's settings panel either way
- If the page has unsaved changes, the studio saves it first, then the builder takes over the editing area
You can also open a page with ?cove=run&pp_new_plan_set=1 on the end of its address: the studio picks the first empty Plans block (adding one if there is none) and starts the builder straight away.
A Plans block that already shows plans keeps working as before; the builder is offered as an option, not forced.
Step 1 — Start
"What are we calling this set?" Give it a Set name — clients never see this; it's how you'll find the set again in the Groups tab, and it becomes the address of a standalone page if you make one (/p/website-care-plans, shown live under the field as you type).
Then choose how to begin:
| Option | What you get |
|---|---|
| Draft it with AI | Four quick questions — What are you selling?, Who is it for? (Small businesses / Agencies / Nonprofits / Enterprise), Monthly price range, How many tiers? (2 / 3 / 4) — then Draft my plans writes names, prices, taglines and feature lists you edit in the next step |
| Start from a preset | Starter / Growth / Scale (SaaS-style), Good / Better / Best (classic) or Care / Care Plus / Care Pro (agency retainers), each $149 / $299 / $599 a month with the middle tier recommended |
| Start blank | Three empty tiers |
The AI option only appears when an AI provider is connected in Settings; otherwise you'll see the presets and blank options alone. Every choice needs a set name first.
Step 2 — Tiers
"Define the tiers." Each tier is shown as the real plan card, exactly as it will render, and every piece of text on it is editable in place — click the name, the tagline, the price, a feature line, or the button label and type.
- Monthly | Yearly at the top right sets the billing interval for the whole set
- + Add tier adds a fourth (a set holds one to four tiers); the trash icon removes one
- ★ marks the Recommended tier — the one with the highlighted border and pill. Only one tier can be recommended; starring another moves it
- ‹ › on a card moves that tier left or right; the order here is the order clients see
- + Add feature adds a line (up to ten per tier); hover a line for its remove button
- Add image (optional) puts a picture across the top of the card
Continue is available once every tier has a name and a price; the footer says which are missing.
Step 3 — Where
"Where should these plans appear?" Tick as many as you like:
| Destination | What it creates |
|---|---|
| This page | Always on — fills the Plans block you started from |
| Standalone link | A page of its own at /p/your-set-name, handy for proposals and emails. Hidden when the page you're on already has that address |
| New product page | A fresh page at /p/your-set-name-pricing, seeded with a hero and these plans |
| Client dashboard widget | Adds the set as a widget on a dashboard you choose from the list — a natural place for upgrade options |
| Embed on an external site | Shown as Coming soon; not available yet |
Below the destinations, Save "…" as a reusable Group is on by default. It's marked Required — and can't be turned off — while Standalone link, New product page or Dashboard is selected, because those placements need the Group. With only This page ticked you may turn it off, in which case the plans are created but no Group is.
New pages are created as Draft, so nothing is public until you publish them.
Step 4 — Review
"Here's what clients will see." The finished cards, followed by a summary card for each placement. Click Add to page. One request creates the plans, the Group, any new pages and the dashboard widget, and fills your block — if any part fails, everything that was created is removed again, so you never end up with half a set.
Billing needs no extra setup: checkout handles a new plan the first time someone buys it. Stripe is never part of this flow.
Back in the Studio
The block now carries the set's name and a row of mini tier cards, with the recommended tier outlined. Its settings panel shows:
- Plan set — the Group's name and plan count, with a chip per tier
- Edit plan set — reopens the builder at the Tiers step
- Also available at — each placement you chose, with its address and a Copy button (this list is shown for the session in which you created the set)
- Detach from plan set — keeps the plans and the Group in your Catalog but returns this block to the ordinary manual picker, where you choose and order plans yourself
The new plans are in the Catalog tab, the Group in the Groups tab, and any new pages in the Pages tab of the Products area.
Editing a Set Later
Click Edit plan set on the block. The Start step becomes Rename this set; the Tiers step opens with the saved tiers. Change what you like — names, prices, features, order, the recommended tier — and click Save changes. The same plans are updated in place, so orders and subscriptions already tied to them are unaffected. A tier you remove is moved to the trash; a tier you add becomes a new plan.
The Where step does not remember earlier placements. Leave the destination cards unticked on an edit unless you actually want another copy — ticking Standalone link again would create a second page.
Who Can Use It
Staff who can edit product pages (the same permission as the studio). Every client role is refused. The AI draft is limited to ten drafts per user per hour.
Notes & Gotchas
The builder only edits sets it made. Groups you assembled by hand in the Groups tab can't be opened in the builder, and their plans are never touched by it.
Prices are whole plans, not variants. A set has one interval — monthly or yearly — for every tier. For a plan that needs both, create it in the Catalog directly.
- The plans are created Active. They are visible to logged-out visitors only when the block's audience is Everyone or Public; a Members-only block creates plans that stay off the public catalog.
- Leaving the builder with Back to page discards a set you haven't added yet; the studio's Save, Preview and Exit controls are paused while the builder is open.
- A set name that already matches a page address gets a numbered suffix on its standalone page (
-2).
