Calendar Widget
The Calendar widget puts your work calendar on your dashboard. You can see what's coming up and add a task, ticket or project on any date without leaving the page.
Overview
The widget is a compact copy of the Calendar page. It shows your own work, lets you drag items to new dates, and switches between Month, Week and Agenda views. Tapping a date opens a short form to add something on that day.
What It Shows
- Your open work: tasks, tickets and projects that belong to you. Completed items are hidden. Board cards aren't shown; use Open calendar and choose Cards to see them.
- Your meetings: if you've connected a Google or Outlook calendar on the Calendar page, those meetings show here too. Only you see them.
- Projects as bars: a project with a start and due date stretches across those days.
Across the top of the widget:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Add | Opens the add form for today. |
| Open calendar | Goes to the full Calendar page, with filters, Mine / Team and My calendars. |
| Month / Week / Agenda | Switches the view. The widget remembers your choice separately from the Calendar page. |
Click or tap an item to open it. Drag an item to another day to reschedule it, the same as on the Calendar page.
Adding Something on a Date
- Click or tap an empty part of any day. (On a phone, tap the + beside the day. See On Phones and Tablets.)
- A form titled New opens with that date already filled in. You can change the date in the form.
- Choose Task, Ticket or Project at the top.
- Fill in the details and click Create task, Create ticket or Create project.
The form closes and the new item appears on the calendar right away. To close it without saving, click Cancel, click outside the form, or press Escape.
Tasks and tickets use the same fields as the Calendar page's create form:
- Task: a title, plus optional Client, Assign to (defaults to Me), Priority, Repeats, Relate to and Notes. The date becomes the task's due date.
- Ticket: a title and a Client (required), plus Assign to, Priority, Relate to and Details (the ticket's opening message). Opening a ticket emails staff right away, so you have to tick Opening a ticket emails staff right away — I understand. before you can create it.
See The Create Form for what each field does.
Starting a Project
The widget can start a new project on a date. The date you picked becomes the project's start date.

The project gets the next project number and appears on the calendar straight away, as a bar if you gave it a due date. You can set a category and anything else on the project page afterwards.
On Phones and Tablets
- A single tap works. Tap any date to add something. You don't need to press and hold.
- Phones show Agenda. When the widget is too narrow for a month grid, it switches to Agenda, a list of the week's days. Each day heading has a + that opens the form for that day, and Add opens it for today.
- The form slides up from the bottom on a phone, with larger buttons and fields. On a tablet or computer it opens in the middle of the screen.
Adding It to a Dashboard
- Go to Manage Dashboards and click Edit Dashboard (the pencil) on the dashboard you want.
- In the Widget Library, click Calendar. It's added as a Large (2x2) card.
- Drag it where you want it.
- Click Save.
Each person who opens the dashboard sees their own calendar in it.
Who Can See It
- Staff roles (administrators, editors, system admins and your other staff roles) see the widget with their own work.
- Client users never see it. On a dashboard shared with clients, the card is hidden for them.
- Starting a project needs permission to create projects, the same as the Create Project form on the Projects page. People without it don't see the Project option.
- Opening a ticket follows the usual ticket rules. See Who Can Assign What.
Notes & Gotchas
- One calendar per dashboard. If a dashboard has two Calendar widgets, the second one says This dashboard already shows your calendar above. instead of showing a second calendar.
- It always shows your own work. For your team's work or other filters, use Open calendar.
- Completed items are hidden. To see them, turn on Include completed on the full Calendar page.
- The full Calendar page hasn't changed. Clicking a day there still opens the create form below the calendar.
