Your License and Updates
Your ClientCove license is perpetual. You buy it once, the first year of updates and support is included, and after that you can renew updates each year or not. Either way, the portal you installed keeps working.
What Your License Covers
Each license covers a set number of production sites: one on Studio, up to ten on Agency. You can see how many you're using on your license page at account.clientcove.io.
- A site counts once you click Activate License on it (ClientCove → License in WordPress).
- Local and staging sites (
*.local,*.test,localhost) are tracked but don't count against your limit, so you can keep a development copy alongside your live portal. - To free up a site, click Deactivate License on it, or Revoke site on your license page. The slot is available again straight away.
Updates and Renewal
Your purchase includes a year of updates and support: new releases, security patches, and help from our team. After that year, updates renew automatically each year at your plan's renewal price, and you're billed for it.
You can cancel the renewal at any time from your account. Cancelling only stops future updates. It doesn't affect anything you've already installed.
If You Stop Renewing
When your updates end, your license moves to Expired on your account, and WordPress shows a notice inviting you to renew. Nothing is switched off:
- Your portal keeps running on the version you have, with all your clients, data, and settings.
- You can still activate sites, up to your license's site limit — for example, to set up a new portal or move an existing one to a new server.
- You keep access to your version. You can download the latest release that was published before your updates ended (see Downloading Your Version).
What you don't get after updates end is newer releases, security patches published later, or support. To get back to the latest version, renew from your account at any time. Your renewal starts a new year of updates from the day you renew.
Expired subscriptions to Current services work differently — see Current Is Separate.
Moving to a New Server
Moving hosts works the same whether or not your updates are current:
- On the old site, go to ClientCove → License and click Deactivate License. This frees the slot.
- Install ClientCove on the new server (download it from your account if you need a fresh copy).
- Enter your license key on the new site and click Activate License.
If you can't reach the old site any more, open your license page at account.clientcove.io and click Revoke site next to it. This frees the slot without touching the old server. If that site had its own Current subscription, revoking it cancels that too.
Downloading Your Version
Your license page at account.clientcove.io has a Downloads section with the main theme and the child theme.
- While your updates are current, it offers the newest release.
- After your updates end, it offers the newest release published before they ended, and tells you the date they ended. Releases published after that date need an active renewal.
The update checker inside WordPress follows the same rule. With current updates it offers every new release; after they end, it only offers versions up to the last one your license includes.
Payment Problems
If a renewal payment fails, your license is suspended until the payment goes through. WordPress shows a notice asking you to update your payment method. While suspended, the license can't download releases or activate new sites. Update your card in your account to restore it.
Current Is Separate
Current — Ripple, Wave, and Surge — provides services we run for you: transactional email, real-time updates, and the AI layer. It's a subscription to those services, not part of the perpetual license, so it stops when you cancel it. Cancelling Current doesn't affect your ClientCove license, and your portal keeps running without it.
