Assistant Widget Settings
The AI assistant greets people with a short message and a few suggested prompts, called starter chips, that they can click instead of typing. Settings → Assistant Widget controls the assistant's name and tone, what it says first, and which chips each role sees.
New in v4.206.0: starter chips now rotate. People see different suggestions each time they open the assistant, and it only suggests features you have turned on. New in v4.207.0: suggestions can also come from ClientCove as features ship.
Opening the Settings
Go to Settings and open the Assistant Widget tab. A live preview on the right shows the assistant as each role would see it. Make your changes, then save.
Identity and Personality
- Identity: the assistant's name, avatar and accent colour. The name is used everywhere the assistant appears, including the sidebar and the pinned panel.
- Personality: pick a tone (friendly, professional, playful or concise), or write your own short description of how it should sound.
Greetings
Each role has its own greeting: Admin, Staff, Client and Public (signed-out visitors). Use the role buttons to switch between them. Put {name} in a greeting to insert the person's first name.
Starter Chips
The Starter chips setting has two modes.
Rotate suggestions is the default. ClientCove keeps its own set of suggestions for each role and changes them each time the assistant opens, so people keep discovering what it can do:
- The order changes every day and is different for each person. Each time the chat starts empty again, the next few suggestions show.
- A suggestion only appears if its feature is turned on in Core Features and the person can use it. If Invoices is off, nobody is offered an invoice question. Clients only see client suggestions.
- Prompts you add under Pinned prompts for a role always show first, and the rotating suggestions fill the rest.
- Up to four chips show at once. Chips the page itself suggests (for example, "Review 2 drafts") and reminders from your AI agents come first.
Include suggestions from ClientCove (on by default, shown when rotating) adds suggestions that ClientCove publishes, often for features that just shipped. A new one shows ahead of the others for its first couple of weeks. These follow the same feature and permission rules, and they only ask a question or start a draft: they never send, delete or change anything on their own. Turn the switch off and your site never checks for them.
Show only my prompts turns rotation off. Each role sees only the prompts you list, always in the same order. If a role's list is empty, it gets the standard set ClientCove has always shipped with.
Clicking a chip is the same as typing it. Anything the assistant would change still asks for confirmation or creates a draft first.
Notes & Gotchas
- Upgrading from before v4.206.0: if you never changed the prompts that came with ClientCove, nothing is pinned and everything rotates. If you did write your own, they become your pinned prompts.
- Where suggestions come from: the built-in set ships with the theme and grows with each update. With Include suggestions from ClientCove on, your site also checks account.clientcove.io in the background, at most every 30 minutes and after a page has finished loading, so pages never wait on it. The check sends your theme version and nothing about your users or clients. If it fails, the assistant keeps the last suggestions it received. None of this depends on your AI provider.
- Pinned prompts take room: with four pinned prompts on a role, there is no space left for rotating suggestions on that role.
